The association DKI (Deutsches Kupferinstitut e. V.) has requested the introduction of a new material CC757S in the Composition List on June 17th 2014.
The request is to add CC757S in the Composition List. The material is based on CB755S, but with changes in the composition and a lower lead content . The requested material will be standardized and the standard name will be CC757S. [Read more…]
SMC manufactures as standard materials Bronze Bars, Brass Ingots in continuous casting and continuous casting Bronze Ingots, on request. ( Bronze Ingots in traditional casting are available as standard production )
The casting process in continuous casting is born in 1860 for non-ferrous metals . The advantage of this type of melting is being able to produce a material more homogeneous and steady quality compared to discontinuous casting .
The molten metal is poured into the crucible from the furnace provided with intermediate septum to block the waste .
Solidifies the molten copper alloy passing through the mold cooled and then pass through the rollers.
Service Metal Company produces Brass ingots and Bronze bars with three horizontal continuous casting plants with a production capacity of approximately 20,000 tons per year.
Over the years it has been developed , through experience, a production process included in the ISO 9001 quality plan that allows to get a refined material ( if required) , clean, free of inclusions and porosities.
In accordance with the recent drinking water legislation, that regulates non ferrous metals use, SMC as low lead brass ingots and low lead bronze ingots producer, briefly summarizes the content, with the aim to show such alloys, that are allowed for foundry castings of parts in contact with drinking water. >> Click here to go straight to the chapter.
We publish the latest version of legislation on metal used for products in contact with drinking water.
Service Metal Company is enabled to supply the Alloys according to specifications mentioned above:

“The new limit makes lead pipes in the water supply system practically useless. If the lead limit in a pipe is exceeded the public health office may oblige the water utility or the landlord to eliminate the cause of the exceedance. What it in fact usually means is that lead pipes must be entirely replaced,” said Jochen Flasbarth, President of the Federal Environment Agency (UBA)”
